Gonna be all up on it.

Sean Price & Eddie B - Stop It

Sean Price & Eddie B-Stop It by deeRok

I pressed play, and this instantly took me back to high school and buying bootleg shit from the flea market across from Rahway Prison.  Unfortunately, I can't tell you where this song is from or what project its set to appear on.

UPDATE: Justin Bieber ft. Raekwon & Kanye West - Runaway Love (Remix)

Runaway Love (Remix) ft. Kanye West & Raekwon by pecachon
I repeat: Don't you dare front on this.
You and I both know this is dope.  Trashing it for the sake of credibility is exceedingly whack.

Anyway . . .this is being updated because we now have the mp3 fresh from Kanye without those damn website tags.

Green Lantern: Invasion Radio 2k10 (Mixtape)

Download Mixtape Free | LiveMixtapes.com Mixtape Player
Ok, then.
Didn't think this was coming out until tomorrow, but here you go.

Green Lantern x Jay-Z x Chris Martin - Most Kingz

Yes, you've heard those verses before.  They're from '06 when Jay was on Flex's show as Kingdom Come was about to come out.  Remember, Green Lantern was Jay's tour DJ at the time.

This is on the same GL mixtape as the Nas joint I posted earlier.

"I got a remix from WHO?!?"

Justin Bieber - Runaway Love Remix ft. Kanye West x Raekwon by janicellamoca

Don't you DARE front on this!

Yes.  This is 100% real and legit.  Not a mash-up, but a proper remix.
If you aren't aware of how something as random as this happened, read up.

So in less than a week, I have added two Justin Bieber remixes to my iPhone.
2010 is a strange place.

Nas - Power, Paper & Pussy

This is by far the best I've heard Nas in a VERY VERY long time.
A very, very, very long time.  Have some.

Off the new Green Lantern mixtape dropping tomorrow.

VERY BIG Kanye West News!

THIS is how you start a Saturday!!
Some big, big news from Mr. West to kick off the weekend:

1.  Calling it "G.O.O.D. Fridays", Kanye announced that either he or someone from the his label's very potent roster (which recently added the Clipse's Pusha T and Cyhi Da Prince) will be releasing new music every Friday from now until Christmas.  Love it!  Very much waiting for the first Pusha/Kanye joint.

2.  Kanye also announced that he will be releasing a 5-song EP with...Jay-Z...enitiled, Watch The Throne.  The first song, I assume, was the "Power" remix.  Song #2 is (literally and figuratively) "Monster" with Rick Ross, Nicki Minaj and Bon Iver.  Yeah, you read that right.  Shit bangs kinda tough.

Mr. Hudson - Angel Eyes

Mr Hudson - Angel Eyes by Hypetrak
New Mr. Hudson jammie of unknown origin or destination.

I Feel Like Starting A Crap Rumor: Jozy Altidore Edition

I'm mid-day bored, so I'm gonna start a soccer rumor based of VERY little actual info, just for the sake of entertainment:

Jozy Altidore is coming back to New York in January.

Why?  Because my Facebook news feed says "Jozy Altidore is now friends with (RBNY Managing Director) Erik Stover".  This obviously means he's on his way home where he belongs.  It's on Facebook.  Facebook is the new New York Times.

UNKLE ft. Lupe Fiasco - The Runaway: Lupe's Revenge

LATE PASS: Justin Bieber - Baby (El-P Death Mix)

Justin Bieber - Baby (El-P Death Remix) by Crossfire Music

(Huge props to betoAYAK for the heads up)

I am absolutely stunned that this happened in JULY and I didn't know about it.
STUNNED, I tell you!

As the story goes...
Via Twitter, the blog, XLR8R, somewhat jokingly challenged El-P to remix a Beebz jam....and he actually did it.  And killed it.  For those unfamiliar with El-P, this is like asking the design chief of Ferrari to draw up a special edition Toyota Corolla.

UPDATE:  I have just finished listening to this for the 7th straight time, and I honestly can't express how happy this song makes me.  It satisfies my lust for new jams, and completely random shit all at once.  Internet...some times I hate you, and you make me question my entire generation and the land of my birth.  But then, you give me dick-punchingly grimy remixes of Justin Bieber songs and I remember why I can't quit you.  I love you, internet.

Linkin Park - The Catalyst

I know what you're thinking: "Linkin Park?  Word?"
For the record, I happen to think Mike Shinoda is great, but he just won't get rid of that little whiny dude that sings all their shit.  You know how great this song, or anything else Shinoda produces, could be without Emo Boy spoiling everything with his bitchy lyrics and sad teenager singing?

Mike!!  Get rid of that guy, already!  Less Linkin Park, more Fort Minor.  PLEASE?!

Washed Out - Hold Out

Those are some happy people.

In internet years, Washed Out waited 47yrs to come out with this video.
This jam was chillwave before "chillwave" became Chillwave.

Jimmy Edgar ft. Theophilus London - Hot Raw Sex

Jimmy Edgar featuring Theophilus London - Hot Raw Sex by Hypetrak

FINALLY, a song about proper napkin placement at a dinner party.
A long-neglected subject matter.  (This song contains78% less raunch than the title indicates)

Also: If the rebirth of 80's funk/R&B ever ends, that's the day I pack up shop and launch myself off the Goethal's.  No point in life after that.
Also, alsoThis is what a Jimmy Edgar is.  Sounds like a...like a...horny Chromeo.

L.e - First of All

L.e For The Uncool- First Of All (Promo) from L.e For The Uncool on Vimeo.

Yeah...stop assuming things.
RACIALIST!!!

L.e was once a member of Fly.Union.  No longer, so it seems.
His solo thing, The Measure, will be out on the 31st.

Now On - All You Ever Knew

Another video that was very entertaining, even if I know less than jack shit about anyone involved.

UPDATE:  Apparently, this is from 2008.  Now On is a now-defunct group that included Mayer Hawthorne* and two other dudes.

* I have NO idea why, but for some reason I keep getting Mayer Hawthore and Mike Posner's names mixed up, and it drives me nuts.  One is fantastic (Hawthorne), and the other's popularity is a complete enigma to me.  They aren't even similar.  I bet there's a half dozen Mayer Hawthorne jams out there that I've ignored by accident because I was mistaking him for Posner.  Dammit!

Baths - Lovely Bloodflow

I haven't got a clue what a Baths is, but I enjoyed this.
Reminds me of a Fever Ray video in some ways, only substantially less creepy.

Strong Arm Steady x Madlib ft. Planet Asia - Chitlins & Pepsi

REALLY surprised that this song got a video.  Still dope, though

Until The Roots last album came out, SAS x Madlib's In Search of Stoney Jackson was my walkaway winner for Album of the Year so far.  Now, I have to think about it.

Requisite bonus jam: "Best of Times" ft. Phonte
In Search Of Stoney Jackson [Explicit]

The ILLZ - When We're Going

OK...I'm dumb.
I don't think I ever mention why The ILLZ actually has a billion videos out in the last few weeks.  It's because he's set to release them all as a single collection, the In Between Video Series, tomorrow.  Of course, I'll tell you where to get ahold of that when the time comes.

Alternate Forms of Neck Protection Now Available

Yup.
How's your brain?

Lupe Fiasco - Go To Sleep

A snippet of this has been around for a while...but I hate those things.  Full jam time.

I would like to talk to someone who takes Lupe songs like this one at face value and ask them what they think of him and what he's talking about.

Diggy Simmons ft. Lupe Fiasco & Pharrell - Oh Yeah!

Diggy – Oh Yeah! (Feat. Pharrell & Lupe Fiasco) by justvibe

Wait . . .what?!
See what happens when you don't do this on weekends?
You end up 2-3 days late on magic like this.  Have some.

How can anyone not like this kid?!  The hipster-haters and "he only got on because of Run" possee is going to come at Diggy full force, but damn, folks, aren't we obligated to applaud a young kid coming out with shit above any beyond the Mother Goose bullshit from the rest of his generation?  Of course we are.  AirBorne (should have been Heir Born) mixtape coming soon.

I do sincerely hope that he's writing his own shit, though.

Black Milk ft. Royce Da 5'9" & Elzhi - Deadly Medly

Detroit.  Detroit.  Detroit.  Whole lotta spittin' on this one.
Still one of the most underrated cities in terms of contributions to REAL Hip-Hop.

Black Milk's Album of the Year, Sept. 14.

(Chilly) Gonzales: Ivory Tower

I am a very frustrated blogger, right now.  My intention was to share his jam, "Knight Moves", but finding an embeddable (?) version of this song has been a complete pain in the ass, and I have given up.

However, because that song is so ridiculously dope, and the whole album (which I have somewhat accidentally just listened through completely) is pretty on point...I'll send send you to Beatport, so you can hear the whole damn thing yourself and do with it as you please.

And for the love of fuck, is this dude's name Gonzales, or Chilly Gonzales???
I see the music listed under both, and he even has active Facebook pages under each name.
C'mon, man!  Make this shit easier for one-slob sites like this one.  Shit!

Toro y Moi - Low Shoulder (Carpark)

I refuse to use the C-word* in this post.
I don't have a clue what's happening in this video.
Cool kids are strange.

*Not that C-word, you animal.

2 Mashup Projects That Sound Great In Theory. However . . .

Well . . .
Both of these sound dope when you first think about it, but once you actually press play...ehhhhhh.
You might like 'em more than I did, so here you go:

First up, DJ O-Face (really, dude?) smashes together Jay-Z ans Sleigh Bells:

Next up, DJ Bassmeister (wow) throws Nas together with some Nosaj Thing tracks:

BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
There's actually a more proper video coming later for this.

The ILLZ - Ode to New York

A very, very busy man.
Jersey emcee pays homage to that place on the other side of the River.

Kanye West ft. Jay-Z & Swizz Beatz - Power (Remix)

Kanye West - Power Remix (Feat. Jay-Z & Swizz Beatz) by Nialler9

Hmmm.  Interesting.
To be honest, I'm a bit disappointed by the first half of this.  Jay's verse was extra regular and Kanye's wasn't too sharp either...and all the extras thrown over the music were a bit messy.

. . .but once Swizzie showed up?  Shiiiiiiit.
THAT'S what this whole remix should have been.  He flipped that sample somethin' terrible, and 'Ye responded accordingly.

Von Pea (of Tanya Morgan) - The Yorker

  Von Pea-The Yorker by deeRok

Very nice.
On Oct. 12, Von Pea will release Pea's Gotta Have It, a concept album based on his time in high school, and what he thinks his 17yr old self would have recorded.
This is one of those situations where I can give a 5-star guarantee on something without hearing any of it.  It's impossible for this to be whack.

Fresh Daily - Feel Me

Feel M E (Fresh Daily) from Nicolas Heller on Vimeo.

You know...I really want to like this Fresh Daily, fellow.  He's got some jams.  But sometimes he feels just a little too "new Brooklyn" for me.  D'aaaaahdon't know.

Outasight: Never Say Never

<a href="http://outasight.bandcamp.com/album/never-say-never">Complicated by Outasight</a>

No lie...I had NO idea that this album was coming.
I don't think I've even heard a song from it . . .but here we are.
A new free album download from Outasight.

And if you aren't familiar, or just slept, do your self a huge favor and get his first project, Further.

Cookin' With Uncle Bob

Where's my potato salad?
That shit better be ready when we get there in October.
We get hungry after a hard day's work.

And don't be cheap with it either.  None of that store bought shit.
I've seen a bunch of your...partners...down in Philly, I'm certain they know their way around a kitchen.  Make it happen.  Extra relish.

I LOOOOOOOVE your front office.  I really do.
Have fun with those guys!

Where's your salad?
Where's your salad?
Where's your saaaaaaalad, Uncle Bob?
You tried to cook it,
but Nicky took it.

Mac Miller: K.I.D.S. (Mixtape)

A few days late, as usual.

I'm very curious about this mixtape.  The kid can spit, and so far he seems to have great taste in beats.  This could be somethin'.  Have some.

Ra Ra Riot - Boy

Remember when every "indie" song wasn't so damn slow and depressing, and people used to actually dance to songs that had live guitars in them?
No?  Me either.

Mark Ronson ft. Kyle Falconer & Spank Rock - The Bike Song

Mark Ronson featuring Kyle Falconer and Spank Rock - The Bike Song by Hypetrak
Ronson's new album is shaping up to be pretty interesting.
And where the hell has Spank Rock been?

. . .and speaking of Spank Rock, where the hell is Santigold?!

N.E.R.D. - Help Me (Live @ MTV UK)

Hmm...alright.
So this song isn't a killer,  but at least this isn't music for brain-dead 19yr olds like the other two songs I keep hearing.  So there's still HOPE!  This might mot be the most disappointing album of all time!

Big Sean ft. Kanye West - Whatever You Want

Big Sean can put a dope song out from time to time.  Have some.
This is an unreleased song that ended up on some mixtape someplace.  The production and Kanye's T-Painery will probably give you an idea of when this was recorded.

I think I'm obligated to flashback to this now.
So there ya go.

Gold Panda - Snow & Taxis

Gold Panda - Snow & Taxis by Hypetrak
Maybe I'm just in a good mood today, but this sounds right.
I like when instrumental tracks have names that give you no choice but to think of a very specific scene when you listen to them.  Good stuff.

Caspa x Mr. Hudson - Love Never Dies (Back For The First Time)

I really like this.  Very different.
Caspa (who?) and Mr. Hudson have a a collabo EP of the same name coming out on Monday.  Might have to check that out.

If you're not familiar, Mr. Hudson is a Kanye affiliate from London (he's on your iPod right now, even if you don't realize it).  Check out his solo album from last year:
Straight No Chaser

Mickey Factz - Paradise

Not his best song ever, but I like this new, angrier Mickey.
I'm Better Than You mixtape on the 24th.

J. Cole - Blow Up

J. Cole on his own beats, too.  Applaud that.  Have some.
Don't know if this is just a random song, or something off the eventual album.
Critique no one asked for:  J. Cole needs to get someone else to write his hooks ASAP.  The hook on this and "Who Dat" are kinda killing songs that could have doubled as internet jams AND radio hits.

...and word to Sallie Mae.  All up in them pockets.

Wale - Number Won

Off that More About Nothing.

Kanye West ft. Beyonce & Charlie Wilson - See Me Now

Fresh out of the oven, as in finished 5AM Wednesday and let loose on Angie Martinez's show later in the afternoon.  Doesn't blow me away, but I can jam it.  More "good album track" than "crazy single"...but OK.  It's Kanye...so this could sound completely different by the time the album comes out.

In other Kanye news:
 - The "Power" remix with Jay-Z will hit on Friday (my goodness)
 - The album (whatever he's calling it) will be released on Nov. 16

M.I.A. - XXXO

No lie, I haven't even bothered to listen to this album yet.
Sounds crazy coming from me, but . . .did you hear that?!  Yuck.

Usher - There Goes My Baby (dajaz Remix)

This shouldn't work . . .but damn if it don't!
Usher's joint over Tribe's "Bonita Applebum"
Instant "That's My Jam" status!  Have some.

This is one of the few Usher songs of recent vintage that doesn't make my speakers feel like they've been violated and given a sample pack of STDs.  For real...his jams have gotten gross.  Hands in pants and lovin' in clubs and whatnot.  Boy ain't got no home trainin'.  Don't know what's wrong with you kids today.

This reminds me of listening to Hot 97 in middle/high school.  back when the DJs were really DJs and they used to do blends like this all the time.  Or those R&B mixTAPES we used to get at the barbershop back in the day.

J. Pinder - Three Words

Cee-Lo Green ft. Eva Mendes - Pimps Don't Cry

Fantastic.
Game, set, match, Mr. Green.
From The Other Guys soundtrack, as you can see.

Side note:  That movie is getting great reviews.  How is that possible?!  It has Mark Wahlberg in it!  By my calculations, he is the worst human being alive.

Andre 3000 - I Do

Andre 3000 - I Do (No Tags) by Hypetrak

You know what...I'm not gonna do it.
I refuse to let this track get my hopes up, or convince myself that an Andre 3000 solo album is ever going to happen.  Nope.  Won't do it.

BUT . . .Big Boi did just release one, right?
Soooooo...maybe?

However this does give me another excuse to link to a song I absolutely love, but no one else seemed to care about...again...for like the 500th time on this blog.

Kanye West's "Portrait" of Power

Oooooook, Kanye...
I see what you did there.
I get it.
I'm kinda mad at it because i wanted a long video...but I get it.
Not a video...a "portrait".
Respect.

But let's take this for what it really, REALLY is:
The single most arrogant visual display in the history of digital media, and for THAT, Mr. West, I applaud you.  The song itself is just a giant middle finger, and this portrait just makes it even more colossal.  You didn't evevn finish the song!  Why bother, right?  You got your point across.

Applaud this man.

Sons of Ben: Fear of Creativity in the "Shiver End"

Is there a proper technical term to diagnose someone (or a group of someones) with a fear of creativity?  "Creatiphobia"?  Let's roll with that.

Holy hell, SoB, not only are you guys terrible, but you're thieves.
Listening to you fools last night on TV was like listening to a shitty remix album of New York fans.

Not a creative or original chant for 90min.  Step your game up.
And if you're going to blatantly steal shit, do yourselves a couple of favors:
1) Don't steal from you closest rival.
2) Do better than singing for the first 10min of a game or only when your team is looking good.

Pathetic.
No worries, though.  We'll be down there in October to give lessons.  Bring a pen and pad, because it can get complex at times.

Side note:  How's Nicky and his security goons workin' out for ya?!

It's Like That, Now

(Photo by RBNY 4 LIFE via MetroFanatic)

Yes, dammit.
I can't tell you how much I've enjoyed the last 12hrs of being a Red Bull New York supporter.  FINALLY, the fanbase is getting a little...dare I say it...swaggar!

You know me, I'm a cocky bastard.  I've been waiting for this for a loooooong time.
Red Bull has been rich since 2006, and they're finally acting like it.  Wonderful.  Now, it looks like the fans are slowly taking on the persona of wealthy, arrogant, big city bully...and I couldn't be prouder of my people.

b) Holy shit

Mickey Factz - Checkmate

Mickey Factz - Checkmate by Hypetrak

Waaaaaaaait a mintue.
Mickey gets ill on this, but . . .is this a diss in disguise?!
Take a close listen to this one.

Now, "I ain't one to gossip", but lets take the Factz facts of this song for what they are:
1) The intro is Lupe Fiasco speaking about the All-City Chess Club, the would-be supergroup that consists of himself, B.o.B., Wale, Asher Roth, Diggy Simmons, Charles Hamilton, Blu...and J.Cole.  Considering that Mickey Factz doesn't appear to be involved, that intro is a bit strange.
2) The beat on this is from J. Cole's "Who Dat".
3) If you're really listening, this verse is pretty damn aggressive...
"...if you look at it...sorta like a chess game
You're mislead 'cause of treacherous heads.
Fact is, as kids, we played checkers instead."

4) J. Cole is signed to Jay-Z's Roc Nation label.  In April '09, it was being said that Factz had also been signed.  Then suddenly, that June, Jay-Z said in an interview that Factz was NOT on his label.

Ehhhhhhhhh, obviously I don't know anything for sure, but my impression of this is that Mickey Factz is firing some not-so-subtle shots at J. Cole.  Why would he?  I don't know...I'm just adding up the pieces.

Wale: More About Nothing (Mixtape)

Here we are, ladies and gentleman.  The follow-up to one of the best mixtapes in recent memory.

Wale is a brave man for giving this the sequel treatment.  There's no way this is as good as Mixtape About Nothing, right?  I guess we shall see.  Have some.

N.E.R.D. - Hot n' Fun (Boys Noize Remix)

It seems that people like this remix so much that No one Ever Really Dies threw together an official video with European tour clips.

Me?  I still loathe the original.  Its very existence make my soul weep in fear of how horrible this album is going to be...BUT, the bassline of this remix is so stupid* that I can ignore alot of those feelings.

* a good thing

Theophilus London x Dap Kings - Calypso Blues

Dope collabo.  Cover of the Nat King Cole jam.
I think this is gonna get heavy rotation status for a few days.

Wale - The Black & Gold

Jammie jam from the upcoming More About Nothing mixtape (tomorrow, I think).
And because I know its killing you...here's the source of the sample.

See that, Hip-Hop heads...it pays to have a blogger that spazzes out on other genres from time to time, doesn't it?

H.O.P.E. ft. Y-O (of U-N-I) - Bliss

This is really good.  I've wanted to give this to y'all since Thursday, but embed links were a pain in the ass.  Good storytellin' stuff within.

Yelawolf - Looking For Alien Love

I've been waiting for a Yelawolf song to finally catch my ears properly.

"The Deal Went Sour"

1982 (Termanology & Statik Selektah) ft. Cassidy & Xzibit - Goin' Back

Can...not...wait.  Have some.

Believe it or not, this is the first time I've posted anything with either Cassidy OR Xzibit involved.

Bart B More - Brap

Wake that ass up!!!
This is slightly heavier that my usual electro fare, but it works.  Maybe because I'm still half asleep, but whatevs...just roll with it.

P.S.  I got this from a link to German iTunes from a producer's Facebook feed.
Yeah...It might be time for me to seek counseling about this jam addiction.
