UPDATE: My RBNY Demands Have Changed

Yes...signing Eddie Johnson on his own is a no-brainer as far as I see it, but after jumping on a "What do you want for Christmas" post on MetroFanatic, I have to alter my demands.  Bigger picture here, folks.

At first read, this may sound crazy, but I absolutely REFUSE to believe that this can't be done:
RBNY is supposedly willing to spend big cash of an old, European offensive player with a big name, specifically Henry.  I propose the following:  For LESS money that it would cost to get Henry, RBNY could (and should) buy/sign 2 of 3 of Eddie Johnson, DaMarcus Beasley and Freddy Adu.

::gives reader 2min to let that marinate::

Exactly!  It's brilliant.
Make it happen, Red Bull.

Excuse my ignorance on some of the wacky rules of MLS, but don't certain teams own the rights to DMB, EJ and Freddy (Chicago, Kansas City, and RSL, respecitvely)? Or at the very least wouldn't RBNY have to go through the allocation process for returning MLS national teamers?

Technically . . yes, NY need to get in line for allocation. Since we're awful, at least we have the benefit of being #2 in line right now behind Philly.
Beyond that, with the new CBA and all sorts of rule changes coming this off-season, plus the general flexibility of the MLS rule book, I believe anything is possible, especially for a big market team.
