Hail Mary Mallon - Smock

SUPERGROUPS!!!
Mary Mallon = Typhoid Mary
Hail Mary Mallon = Aesop Rock + Rob Sonic + DJ Big Wiz

This has serious potential.  The long-time collaborators, but newly formed group will be releasing their collective debut, Are You Gonna Eat That, on May 3.  I plan to consume it vigorously.

Oh, here's some CDQ action:

Murs - Varsity Blues

LOVE this song.  Best Murs joint in a very long time.  Aesop Rock on the production.  It's perfect.  If you dig this...and you have to, check out that Felt (Murs & Slug of Atmosphere) album that Aesop produced.

Dirty Ghosts - Shout It In

Wooooow.  This is magic.
Today has been a hell of a day for music, but this is the gem.
Why have I not heard of Dirty Ghosts until 15min ago?  Are they new?  Am I late?  Am I early?  If I'm early, is there some kind of reward?

As it that wasn't good enough...get summa this RIDICULOUSLY NASTY Aesop Rock remix in your face:
Dirty Ghosts - Shout It In (Aesop Rock Remix) by dirtyghosts

Oh shit.  That's . . .ill.
Damn.
I can't form whole sentences after that.

Wait, wait, wait...get on this:

My jaw is on the floor right now.  This is so dope.  I NEED everything they've ever recorded in my grimey hands right now.

Murs - Varsity Blues 2

Aesop Rock on them beats.
Hip-Hop is having a big Tuesday morning.

This is dope.  Best song I've heard from Murs in a minute.  And the world needs Aesop Rock to put out more work.  This will serve as the title track to Murs' next project.

Def Jux: R.I.P.

Some unfortunate Hip-Hip news:
Definitive Jux, record label home to incredible emcees and artists like El-P, Aesop Rock, Cage, Yak Ballz, Camu Tao, Murs, RJD2 and many more is ceasing normal operation after 10 incredibly influential years in the underground scene.

Official statement from El-P

Very sad to see the label die, but no doubt these artists will continue on elsewhere.

Aesop Rock - None Shall Pass (Bossasaurus Remix)

Bossasaurus vs Aesop Rock - None Shall Pass (Remix) from AlwaysHustle.com on Vimeo.

Bossasaurus?  Who?  I don't know.
What I DO know is that my stomach turned at the idea of somebody doing a dancey remix of this song...but hell, this is actually dope!  Whaddya know?  Have some.

FLASHBACK: Weathermen - Left It To Us

Whoooooo!!!  Haven't heard this in a minute.
Just came up on shuffle.  Made me slap my boss and write a hot 16 about it, son!

Felt 2-for-1 Sale

Shit!  About time we got some actual jams.  I was sick of all the behind-the-scenes and interviews...I don't even watch 90% of that stuff.  Just give me the music.

2 new jams from Felt (Slug, Murs & Aesop Rock on them beats) after the J (see that?  "after the J"?  DAMN, I'm cool.)

Your Horoscope . . .by El-P

Cardboard City / Def Jux emcee, El-P has a new hobby. Determining your future.

[Holy shit! I'm an idiot! Somehow in my vocoder-induced rage about crew tracks yesterday, I somehow skipped over the best one to come out this decade. Bad job by me. Allow me to make ammends:

Aesop Rock / Upper Playground / adidas

Aesop Rock has designed a limited-edition (only 500) of the Stan Smith ("What?? American Dad has his own kicks??") shoe, based on the artwork from his last album, None Shall Pass. I dig 'em.

Says Aesop Rock:
“The faded green and gold colors have a strange eerie-meets-regal vibe that I liked when designing the art for last year's album,” explained the Long Island native. “I wanted to continue that color scheme, and keep it pretty simple. I didn’t want anything too intrusive. Basically I just wanted something that I’d rock, and my mother might even wear them.” (Allhiphop.com)

These shoes are third in a series that also included designs from Herbert Baglione and David Choe.
