Jam Of The Week: June 21-27, 2010

Tough choice between this and the new Chromeo jam, but this beat is just...just...belligerent.
This beat walked into your VIP section, tongued down your main piece and stole that $200 bottle of Goose you were nursing.  It's that nasty.  I really didn't think Timbo was capable of shit like this anymore.  Thought the old dog had lost it.  Throw T.I.'s special brand of middle-finger rap on top and it's too much to resist.  I jammed the merciless efph out of this all weekend in various public places.

UPDATEDirty version!!

Have some.

Dirty Money ft. Rick Ross & T.I. - Hello, Good Morning

Vacation Late Pass Alert

I still don't like Ross, and this song is still pretty hollow...
but, dammit, that beat is just way too crazy.

Is it possible for arrogance to have a sound?
Maybe its just me and my ridiculous ego, but that beat is like an instant trigger for flagrant acts of Diddy-esque cockiness, and I love it.

T.I. - I'm Back

T.I. is one of those artists where I may not be a huge fan of his music overall, but for whatever reason, it's just a good thing that he exists.  Does that make any sense?  Nope.

...and I happen to love 599s, so it's got that going for it.

DON'T FRONT!!! Dirty Money ft. T.I.- Hello, Good Morning

Now...its no secret that I happen to think Diddy is a fantastic individual, especially if you have the good sense not to take the man too seriously.  However, that doesn't always translate to the jams.
As much as I may want to front on this Dirty Money project...I just can't.
Alot of this shit is just sounding too right.
I promise (unless you're a maniac like me with his comp hooked up to a big ass sub woofer and surround sound on par with what's in his car) your laptop speakers just aren't doing this justice.

Get some instrumental while you're at it.

The MASSIVE "Soooo, What Did I Miss?" Post (Pt.2)

OK . . .
Been a reletively busy day in the non-internet world, but I'm ready to get back to the ridiculous task of catching up with a week's worth of music news. Here's Part 1, BTW

Let's go!

True Hip-Hop Stories: Big Daddy Kane

True Hip-Hop Stories: Big Daddy Kane from D-Nice on Vimeo.

Kane tells the story behind the making of "Ain't No Half-Steppin' ". I'm a geek (and so are you). I love this shit. Where does this song rank All-Time? Top 20? 10?

Exile & DJ Day: D-Train

Oh SNAP!
I thought I was the only person under 45 that was still jammin' some D-Train!
These 2 never cease to amaze me. This makes the word "dope" sound small. i need a better adjective. This is the greatest thing I've seen/heard in weeks.

Am I wrong for not really being interested in La Coka Nostra?
Is it the name that's killing me?
I don't know.

There's a new Motown-commissioned MJ/J5 remix album out there. I've listed to about 4-5 jams, none of them are blowing me away, but maybe you'll dig it.

Clipse ft. Pharrell - I'm Good

In a fun bit of coincidence, I heard this while driving home from vacation yesterday.
Where was I at that moment? Just coming off of the Chessapeake bay Bridge & Tunnel. It somehow made me like the song more.
I said to my girl, "This is like watching a lion in his natural habitat". Does that make complete sense? not really. But you got my point, dammit.

A big LOL @ Rolling Stone for naming the dude with the biggest song in the country an "Artist to Watch" for 2009. Way to stay current, boys.

I've already voiced my gripes about the MJ tributes...but supposedly, this album/mixtape was already in production when Mike paseed...so I guess I can rock with it (get it?)

T.I. ft. Justin Timberlake - Dead and Gone

From the new album, Paper Trail

This song is interesting to me for a couple of reasons:
1. Last time we heard T.I., Timberlake and Timbaland on the same track, it was on "My Love". If that track was a person, it would have been beating T.I. in the face with a meat tenderizer. It was kinda ugly listening to him struggle to keep up. Not so this time. Tip done went and got nice. Thumbs up.
2. We've gotten to a point in music (and life in general) where it's perfectly acceptable for a former Mickey Mouse Club member, boy band superstar and Britney Spears cherry-popper to sing hooks about "homies dead and gone". Word? This new world is strange, but it entertaining.

T.I. ft. Rihanna - Live Your Life . . .and other assorted ramblings

Alright. OK. Hold on. Wait a second.

As I'm sure you've noticed, this is MUCH later that I usually post anything. Why? Because I'm half drunk. What do you want from me?! It was the start to football season.

Anyway . . .as I was "coming home", I heard this song on the radio. What I heard was a fuckin' T.I. song that sampled "Numa Numa". What?! Obviously, I must be drunk as hell. There's no way this is possible, right?! Is my world falling in on itself?

Really, the best part of the song is the fact that Rihanna actually remembered that she's West Indian. I actually forgot.

Oh! By the way . . .YES! I did hear/see Kanye's "Love LockDown", and YES, I am impressed. I'll gladly wait for someone else to tell me another "urban" artist with the balls to make that song and perform it with that much attention surrounding it. I've got some other stuff to say about the jam, but I'll save that for tomorrow when I can actually give you a link to hear/download it.
