MGMT - Siberian Breaks (Ed Banger All-Stars Remix)

MGMT - Siberian Breaks (Ed Banger All Stars Remix) by P-REX

This song is long as shit, but you have to let the whole thing ride to fully appreciate it.
I haven't had a reason to mention MGMT since . . .damn.  I really though I'd be into them for a while when their first few songs came out, but...NOPE!

Anyway, nothing of this world could grab my attention like the words "Ed Banger All-Star Remix".  Nothing.  The All-Stars in question are So Me, Breakbot & Busy P.  Each drops a bit of their own style into this.  Not too shabby.

MGMT - It's Working (Air Remix)

I have lost all interest in MGMT.  So much so that I have bestowed upon them the ultimate modern insult: Un-liking them on Facebook.  I know...harsh.  But it had to be done.

Anyway...I love me some Air, so I had to check this remix (of a terrible song) out.  Ain't half bad.  Not really too sure what to do with it, but OK, I'll add it to the collection.

Random Thoughts #15: Anger MGMT

[The following is a public service announcement brought to you by the good folks at FF&SS, Inc.]

Ok...
For real...

Are we ready, now?

Are we all finally ready to sit down, take a deep breath and admit to ourselves that Oracular Spectacular only had 2.5 good songs on it?  It's OK!  The cool cops won't break in your house and arrest you if you say it.  It's just honest truth.  Be FREE!  Shed the weight of shame and guilt you've been carrying all these months for pretending that MGMT has a bunch of dope jams!  You, I and everyone else know they don't.  Just breathe...and let the stress go.

Now you won't feel so bad when you listen to the new album and think its crap*.
You're welcome.

*Because, really...WTF is this shit?

Kid CuDi ft. MGMT & RATATAT - Pursuit of Happiness (Alternate Video)

This version is alot less NahRight, and alot more Pitchfork.
...and much better than then "Get it, dummies...just cuz I party, don't mean I'm happy" origi version.

And I still can't get my hands on an instrumental version of this friggin' album.

Kid CuDi - Pursuit of Happiness

Not to get all Capt. Blogotron negative ::eye roll::, but this song kinda reinforces my apprehensions about CuDi's upcoming album:

The dude has amazing taste in what's good in music (this song is produced by Ratatat, with guest vocals from MGMT)...and he's very creative when it comes to the conceptual stuff . . .but the shiny aesthetics of Kid CuDi jams seem to be miles ahead of the ACTUAL lyrics and content. Is it just me? Am I expecting too much from him? I don't know.

MGMT - Kids

I'm just as confused as you are.
All this time, there was no official video for this?!

MGMT ft. Jim Jones - Electric Feel (RMX)

[Warning: Author get his StereoSnob on]

I've never been more reluctant to share a song with you as I am with this one. To state it plainly, I think Jim Jones is THE FUCKING WORST. I can't stand his music, his persona, and I hold him solely responsible for the horrible way my fellow Black men have been dressing for the last two years (there's a special place in Hell for you, Christian Audigier)

So, you can imagine my horror when I read the headline "MGMT ft. Jim Jones". I didn't know whether to laugh, cry, vomit, or somehow combine the 3 (like that one time in Caesar's Palace...but I digress). On one hand, I was sure that Jones would drop the single whackest verse my delicate elitist ears would ever have to suffer through . . .on the other hand, I was terrified by the prospect of this clown pulling off a miracle and spittin' hot fiyah. It's Monday afternoon. I'm not ready for such a debacle this early in the week.

Luckily, and for the sake of my sanity, not only is Jim Jones at his AAAABBBB lamest, but homie isn't even on beat for his 2 (REALLY?! 28 bars?!) verses.

Proceed at your own risk.

Spend Halloween with MGMT

10/30
Webster Hall
with Helios Creed/Chrome (who?) and Bobb Trimble’s Flying Spiders (who??)

10/31
Music Hall of Williamsburg
with Amazing Baby, Violens, Boy Crisis (I think I know who that is . . .maybe), Francis & the Lights

These "supporting" acts have taught me that there's still hope, and I may not be the full-on hipster douchebag I though I was. Either that, or MGMT are brilliant, and they know that if you make up any random band name, the Williamsburg set will instantly claim that they've been down with 'em for "dude, like for years. Waaaay before they sold out and went on that Noweigan talk show".

Pre-sale for tix is on Wednesday from 10A - 10P, normal sale begins on Friday. Take care of all of that action here.

Electro Remixification

Cut Copy and MGMT are two of those bands that I can't decide if I like. Either way, they have GREAT taste in people to take care of their remix action. Allow me to offer proof:

Cut Copy - "Lights and Music" (Boys Noize! Rmx)

MGMT - "Electric Feel" (Justice Rmx)

This is the kinda jam I like on mornings after I get "triumphantly" drunk. The kind of drunk where you don't get home until sunrise, but you don't remember anything after about 3AM. You somehow manage to avoid a hangover and your friends call you that afternoon to tell you hilarious stories about yourself.

Sound familiar to anyone??
