Kendrick Lamar - HiiiPoWeR

Kendrick Lamar - HiiiPower (Prod. By J. Cole) by ImFlashy

J. Cole on them beats.
First single from Kendrick's Section 80 album.

Really good song...but for the love of fuck, can we stop with the Illuminati references/accusations/claims in Hip-Hop?  We're approaching a record for longest conversation with no one having a clue what they're talking about.

J. Cole: Friday Night Lights

New mixtape.  New material.
Dropped late Friday, but you know I don't do this shit on the weekends.
Have some.

J. Cole ft. Drake - In the Morning

Need a jam to get your page hit totals up?!  Thanks, Cole!
New Friday Night Lights mixtape dropping later today.  Stay tuned.

J. Cole - Purple Rain

   J. Cole - Purple Rain (Prod By J. Cole) by The People's Poseur

Did you know that he had a mixtape coming out on Friday?
Me either.

This kid must have an absurd amount of unused verses laying around his house.  Good lord.  48 mixtapes, 0 albums.  C'MON, SON!!!  History is made on ALBUMS, not mixtapes.  I wonder what the hold-up is.  Seems pretty clear that once he drop a proper album, he could easily take the #1 spot among the young cats (that are worthy of the title Emcee).  Wasting time.

Kanye West, Pusha T, CyHi Da Prince, Big Sean, J. Cole - Looking For Trouble

Kanye West - Looking For Trouble (Pusha T, Cyhi the Prynce, Big Sean & J. Cole) by TheOGConnection
So The Prince is back to Da Prince again?
That ain't Rosewood, homie!
Anyway...I'm not a big fan of this one.
It sounds like a Rick Ross record.  I don't think anything could sound good on this beat.
But what do I know, it seems the GOOD Friday jams that are the biggest tend to be the ones I like least.

J. Cole - I'm On It

Have some.

That album better be a classic.
Playing with fire, Mr. Cole.

Side note:  I really wish more rappers had soccer players' names, because putting that picture up amuses the hell out of me and really does bring this slopfest of a blog full-circle.

J. Cole ft. Omen & Fashawn - Relaxation

   J. Cole - Relaxation feat. Omen & Fashawn by globalrespect

J. Cole on his own beats.

Mr. Cole is playing a very dangerous game.  There's alot of good music out there for an artist with no album.  No one is going to give him credit for all this quality work if his first proper LP is equally good.  Ask Wale.

J. Cole - Blow Up

J. Cole on his own beats, too.  Applaud that.  Have some.
Don't know if this is just a random song, or something off the eventual album.
Critique no one asked for:  J. Cole needs to get someone else to write his hooks ASAP.  The hook on this and "Who Dat" are kinda killing songs that could have doubled as internet jams AND radio hits.

...and word to Sallie Mae.  All up in them pockets.

Mickey Factz - Checkmate

Mickey Factz - Checkmate by Hypetrak

Waaaaaaaait a mintue.
Mickey gets ill on this, but . . .is this a diss in disguise?!
Take a close listen to this one.

Now, "I ain't one to gossip", but lets take the Factz facts of this song for what they are:
1) The intro is Lupe Fiasco speaking about the All-City Chess Club, the would-be supergroup that consists of himself, B.o.B., Wale, Asher Roth, Diggy Simmons, Charles Hamilton, Blu...and J.Cole.  Considering that Mickey Factz doesn't appear to be involved, that intro is a bit strange.
2) The beat on this is from J. Cole's "Who Dat".
3) If you're really listening, this verse is pretty damn aggressive...
"...if you look at it...sorta like a chess game
You're mislead 'cause of treacherous heads.
Fact is, as kids, we played checkers instead."

4) J. Cole is signed to Jay-Z's Roc Nation label.  In April '09, it was being said that Factz had also been signed.  Then suddenly, that June, Jay-Z said in an interview that Factz was NOT on his label.

Ehhhhhhhhh, obviously I don't know anything for sure, but my impression of this is that Mickey Factz is firing some not-so-subtle shots at J. Cole.  Why would he?  I don't know...I'm just adding up the pieces.

Miguel ft. J. Cole - All I Want Is You

This has been around for a few weeks, but its taken forever to grow on me.
It's gaining steam around here.  Wondering if the rest of the country is jammin' it.

J. Cole - Who Dat

J. Cole - Who Dat (Directed by BBGUN) from bbgun on Vimeo.

I still think Cole is alot better than this song...but its a'ight.
First singles tend to "meh" outloud.

J. Cole - Who Dat

 (See what I did there?!)

Well, well, well...an actual single from J. Cole.
This is the clean version, sadly.
I'm not blown away by this, but I'm 100% certain Cole is capable of much more interesting shit than this.

Reflection Eternal ft. Jay Electronica, J. Cole & Mos Def - Untitled (Radio Rip)

Hear that sound?  It's the Hip-Hop internet exploding.
My goodness, what a lineup.  Have some.

You see, kids?  There's a big difference when 4 emcees get on the same track as opposed to 4 rappers.  Emcees know their verses will be picked apart and dissected by a million nerds like me, so they spit hot shit and feed off the competition from the other 3.  Rappers:  "Whatever.  Our names are on it.  Kids are gonna buy it regardless".  Everybody did their thing on this, Hi-Tek included.

I guess I have to give a Jay Electronica opinion , right (how perfect is the timing of this)?
Good verse.  Still #4 on the track.
