Jay-Z ft. Lil' Wayne - Summer In Brooklyn (Cookin Soul Remix)

What happens when you smash together Jay-Z, Wayne, Quincy Jones, and the Helvicta font.

And while we're here...you know I had to give you some of this, right?

Wayne and Drake Think You're an Idiot...

Listen to this and tell me that Wayne and Drake's writer isn't the same person.
Go ahead.  Convince me that the above and this didn't come from the same brain.

Same flow.  Same cadence.  Same style of wordplay.  Same "melody" on the hooks.
Ain't foolin' nobody (over 25) with this shit.

Lil' Wayne ft. Eminem - Drop The World

(BIG round of applause for whoever chose that pic of Wayne in front of the "Marshall" amps.  I see what you did there, sir, and I approve.)

Ehhhh, this wasn't the "Renegade"-level, bodybag worth, "Eminem murdered you on your own shit" destruction that I was hoping for...but you know who came out on top of this one.
The song itself is backed by that pseudo-rock quasi-electro pop shit that's dominating radio right now.  In 20 min, we won't care about this song anymore.  Have some if you want it.

Side note:  Am I the only one who laughs every time he hears Wayne say "muddah-fukkah"?  Cracks me up.

A Whole Buncha Dudes - Forever (Travis Barker Remix)

This is either most over- or under-analyzed Hip-Hop song of 2009.
On one hand, it was discussed entirely too much.
On the other, not enough people were talking about the right aspects.
Ahh, well. I'm a rap nerd, what do I know?

EVERYTHING!
I got a blog, yo!
They don't just give these shits out for free!

Lil Wayne - Run This Town "Freestyle"

You KNOW I'm not one to give Wayne alot of love around here, but never let it be said that I'm a "hater" (and really, if you're still using that term in '09...wow).  Wayne did his thing on this.

Drake, Kanye West, Lil' Wayne & Eminem - Forever

Yup...that's the line-up.
Odd thing about songs like this is that with a roster this big, it's almost impossible for the song to actually live up to its potential (you know the non-jam I'm talking about). This definitely isn't bad...not at all. I think it's the beat that's putting me to sleep. UPDATE: I take that back. I gave this song a pass because my standards for radio-ready Hip-Hop are at an all-time low. this song isn't good. Its boring ass hell, to be honest. Alrighty...that's enough blogger negativity for on day.

The back story for this is that the song is somehow involved with a "movie" that LeBron James is attached too. I'd get more detail for ya, but really, it's not that interesting.

Get your ears ready, this is the only song you're gonna hear for the next two months!

Long Ass Weekend Recap (pt.1)

Ok...back and finally awake again after a long ass weekend in the land of Tar Heels ans Wright Brothers. Let's see if I missed anything worthwhile.

Let's see...

Royce has an EP dropping later today. He let a jam with the rest of Slaughterhouse loose yesterday.

We got this Alchemist track with Travis and Wayne a few days ago, but it was an unfinished version that wasn't supposed to be out yet, so Alchemist has "freed the beast" and let loose with the full product (the 2nd Travis verse). I really hope this catches on. Kid is nice.

Joell Ortiz ft. The Kickdrums - How To Change

...and if you don't have The Kickdrums album yet, get on it.

Oh, this one is good. You remember Loon, right? Ever wonder what happened to him? Well here you go:

Alchemist ft. Travis McCoy & Lil Wayne - I Know Your Name

Man, Wayne really messes up what could have been an amazing song.
Damn shame. The beat is crazy and Travis can truly spit when he's not on that "Cookie Jar" bullshit.

More Bernie Allen, less Gym Class Heroes, please!!!

Have some.

Thank God For Instrumentals

Every now and then (10 times a week) a jam comes out and you think to yourself one of the following:
1) These are the dumbest/most pointless/ridiculous lyrics I've ever heard.
2) I hate [fill in artist] so much, but damn, that beat is hot.
3) I'm gonna get drunk and tell myself that I can spit on this beat.

Drake's (or whoever actually gets the artist credit) "Every Girl" is a severe case of #1. I'm pretty sure the lyrics to that shit gave my car herpes when I played it. I think 2Dope Boyz called it "the Anti-Christ of safe sex songs". Perfect.

But that BEAT...dope!
Gotta have it.

So today, I'd like to crack open a Red Stripe (and drink it myself, because I don't share) and salute whatever group of dudes post the ever-so-valuable instrumentals of lyrically whack jams on YouTube

Thank you, sir(s).

Busta Rhymes ft. Lil' Wayne & Jadakiss - Respect My Conglomerate

Granted, the content of this song is fairly coonish, and it feeds right into one of my least favorite elements of mainstream hip-hop, an obsessive and corny hero worship of mafia culture . . .

...but the beat and hook are so ridiculous that I can ignore it, so efph it.

Drake - Best I Ever Had

More romance jams need hooks like this!

Despite the subtle auto-tunage and Lil' Wayne affiliation, Toronto rapper/singer, Drake makes some really entertaining music. We're not talking Earth-changing stuff, but his mixtape, So Far Gone, is dope from start to finish. In fact, the Weezy connection works to Drake's benefit, because Mr. Carter is on his absolute A-game for the 3-4 times he pops up.

Drake's specialty seems to be jams directed at the wiminz, but they're brash, arrogant and so cheese-free that you can rock 'em in your neighborhood . . .with the tinted windows down. Don't get it confused though. When he feels like it, Drake can spit.

Word, Tyga?!

Hmmm . . .sounds like Tyga (or his label head, Lil' Wayne) realized that that "coconut juice" shit was super whack and he went and got a ghostwriter to try and appeal to the the young "underground" set. Ain't foolin' nobody, son.

::EXTREME Sarcasm::
I wonder who wrote this one.

Kanye West ft. Lil' Wayne - Tell Everybody That You Know

I'll call this round a draw.
New 808's scorecard: 1W-4D-2L

If that vid gets 86'd some time soon, try this.
No? How about this?

"This is my confession . . ."

T-Pain - Can't Believe It (Feat. Lil Wayne) from Chester Ebona on Vimeo.

I post this for 3 crucial reasons:

1. As much as I'd like to front on T-Pain, he keeps putting out shit (guest appearances not withstanding) that I mess with.
2. As a people, can we come together and decide that its time to dead YouTube and that Vimeo is where its at?
3. There's a $50 reward to anyone that can tell me what the f*** Wayne says in his verse.

Thank you for your time. "Fuego".
