The Lonely Island ft. Julian Casablancas - Boombox
The best part of this whole thing is the fact that it's really impossible to tell how serious Casablancas is about it all. Does he know it's a comedy album? Are his acting skills just top-notch and we don't know it? As the poster boy for NYC in the last decade, is he just so amazingly capable of being ironic that his lines between comedy and seriousness were eventually sniffed off a urinal in Webster Hall and he can no longer tell the difference?
Fascinating.

Julian Casablancas - I Wish It Was Christmas Today
Remember this?
Of course you do.
Subtract comedy elements, add solo Strokification and viola!
A Christmas jam for all the kids too cool to care about Christmas anyway.

Julian Casablancas - River of Brakelights
Yup...it's official. JC's solo album has oficially become my Upcoming Album To Be WAY Too Over-Analytical About. I really don't know what I'm supposed to do with this song. Like...what exactly is the mood one needs to be in to jam this effectively? Is there such a mood? Is it better when I DON'T have a clue what Julian is saying, because when I do...sometimes it's like..."oh".

Julian Casablancas: "Phrazes For The Young" Sampler
Above is a sampler of each track from ol' JC's upcoming album.
I know...I always said I don't do snippets (and I won't be listening to this one)...
but this is for you folks, as I know many of you would like to partake.

Julian Casablancas - 11th Dimension
Uh oh . . .I don't think I like this.
::deep breaths::
(To self:) Don't panic...don't panic...first "singles" are often less than brilliant.

Julian Casablancas Doin' The Solo Thang
No jams yet, but if ever there was an occurrence that would have "da innanet goin' nuts", it's The Strokes' ever incomprehensible lead singer dropping a solo LP. Release of Phrazes For The Young is set for some time in the fall.
This HAS to be better than Albert Hammond Jr.'s thing, right?! I saw homie live twice in "support" of Bloc Party and...who the hell was the other show...Incubus, yes. Both times, there was a mass rush to the back of the joint as people scrambled to get overpriced beer rather than be put to sleep by the misguided Stroke.
Believe it or not, this is apparently the first time I've referenced The Strokes on this (11 month old) blog. Time for an album, gentlemen!
