Ed Banger Records: The Bee Sides

I'd go into detail about what The Bee Sides is, but only 500 copies of the rekkid collection were shipped worldwide...so you (or I) ain't gettin' one.  But the internet is a wonderous place for nobody chumps like us and we can hear the whole thing anyway...so let us consume!

Justice - Civilization (Full)

Justice - Civilization by WATM Magazine
Here it is, ladies and gentlemen.  The complete first single from whatever it is Justice is about to release.  I won't lie...I'm not really feeling this.  Probably because my expectations are too high and I expected the first new song I heard from Justice to alter my DNA or something.

Awwwwww, shit!  New Justice artwork popped up today.
Let the weeks and weeks of speculation and fake song clips begin!!

Massive Faux Failure: Rubber Edition

RUBBER OFFICIAL TRAILER ! from oizo mr on Vimeo.

Right now, I sit at my desk absolutely stunned that I have not mentioned Rubber at ANY point on this blog.  I have no idea how this is possible.

In short...Rubber is a film by Mr. Oizo about a tire...a tire?...a tire...that comes to life and goes on a murderous rampage.  Comes out Nov. 10.  Zeus only knows where one goes to actually see it.

That's all lovely, but the film isn't my main priority, it's the potential monster of a soundtrack.  There's the obvious greatness of new shit from Mr. Oizo, but oh no, that's not all.  This soundtrack is a collaboration between Oizo . . .and Gaspard Auge of Justice!  Comes out Nov. 9.  Let's enjoy a taste, shall we:

The Ed Banger Seven: Episode 1 (The Storm)

You're not new here...so you know the deal.
I can't properly express my affinity for Ed Banger Records.
Short of anything Daft Punk has ever recorded, electronic music just doesn't get any better that what this ridiculously loaded stable of talent pumps out on a regular basis.  It isn't remotely debateable.

Anyway...Starting today, and continuing with one episode daily, Ed Banger is releasing a 7-part documentary series that follows Justice, Busy P, Uffie, DJ Mehdi, Sebastian, etc on their journey to NYC as their crew finds growing success in the US.

I will not be missing a single minute of this.

Swizzie Feeds The Nerds

Jay-Z and Justice - On To The Next Dance (Terry Urban and DJ Eloy video edit) from Eloy Garcia on Vimeo.

Dammit, I love this stuff!!!
I need to learn how to do this shit.
I need DJ skills.

In Jay-Z's song, the vocal sample ISN'T saying "on to the next".  Swizz Beatz looped/chopped the words "under the" from Justice's D.A.N.C.E. to make it sound that way.  Check the transition around the 2:00 mark.  Swizz tells the back story here.

UPDATE / RANT: The Fake Justice Jam

No, it still isn't really Justice...
But let this serve as a lesson on how ridiculous the internet, music fans and people in general really are.

FACT:  This song is 6 kinds of dope.
FACT #2:  Had this actually been a Justice song, it would absolutely be the world's favorite song within the next 24hrs.

Now that we know it's a "fake", suddenly no one likes it.  WORD??
Has music gotten to be like clothing, where something is only as good as the name brand attached to it?*  Good grief.  Any Justice fan claiming they don't/won't/wouldn't bang the hell out of this is lying to themselves.

Alternate theory:  Music snobs are so embarrassed that A) One of their favorite artists is so easily duplicated, and B)  Their "expertise" wasn't enough for them to sniff out the deception, that they have no choice but to slam/ignore an obviously good song.  Sad.

JAM THAT SHIT!!!

* And yes, the inverse occurs where we trick ourselves into liking whack shit based on the name brand (see: Jay-Z's last 3 albums)

New (Not) Justice Jam Still Dope

Speaking of the French...

So a song hit the web yesterday, and it was being tagged as a new Justice jam.  Turns out it's not, and that it was sent out by some dude that created a fake Ed Banger e-mail address.

WHATEVER, man...that shit is on point anyway.
I don't care who made this.

To add to the entertainment, a few days ago, someone put out a jam claiming it was Daft Punk's work from the upcoming Tron soundtrack.  Nope.  So it seems we have a very crafty computer nerd out there trying to prove that the French electro hero's we worship really ain't that hard to duplicate.

Justice x Dante x Webster Hall - Your Eternal Soul (RMX)

[This rant inspired by The Offside Rules.  No sense clogging up his comment section.]

Holy hell, man.  Justice at Webster Hall?!  That's like bringing a fire hose and 2 buckets of extra crispy to a fraternity full of mogwai after midnight.  I love me some Justice, but you couldn't PAY me to get up in that human soup.

Have you ever BEEN to Webster Hall??  It's the last (public and blatant) remnant of pre-Giuliani NYC.  That joint is like the 2nd Circle of Hell on the average Thursday.  Anyone within 10 blocks of that place is gonna get 2 designer, French STDs and an opiate addiction just from breathing the air when Justice is in town.

I was in that joint last when the drummer and bass player from Bloc Party were spinnin', and THAT was a zoo.  And by "zoo", I mean "look to my left and see a 6'3" tranny snort coke of a urinal".  Yes . . .for Bloc Party.  So WTF is that place gonna look like for Justice?!  Outbreak monkeys and dirty midgets swinging from the stage lights?  Before 1AM, some girl is gonna be impregnated ON the "dance" floor, and by 3, she'll give birth to herself.  Or at least that's what she'll think happened, because all she had for dinner was Special K.

Good grief.  Hide your children, the electo-house kids are roaming the streets again.

Lenny Kravitz x Justice - Let Love Rule

Wow...it's possible to make Lenny Kravitz listenable!  Who knew?  Have some.
This brings the grand total of Kravits related projects I approve of to 3 in 20yrs (one and two).

And whoever directed this video deserves a friggin' medal.  This is great.

U2 - Get On Your Boots (Justice Remix)

The fun part of this song is guessing which fan base will hate it more, U2's or Justice's.
Internets, rage on!!

Justice - Phantom II

JUSTICE - PHANTOM II

The footage for this video is a smashery of the tamest 2:53 that Justice could piece together from their live performance / documentary, A Cross The Universe (a DVD filled with titties, fighting, puking and the best jammage France has to offer)

Justice and Ed Banger Crew Rock the Apple

Awwwww, this is some shit, right here!
Thurs., Oct. 30 at Webster Hall, there's gonna be a series of DJ sets that will completely SHUT DOWN anything else happening on this blue planet (unless that damn Aoki kid shows up someplace).

[Pause for author rant: I still don't understand Steve Aoki's appeal. That dude is the laziest, no-mixin', i-pod shufflin' sum'bitch on the circuit. I've mixed better sets in my car. If his name was "Bob Jones", he'd never make a dime. I'm just sayin'.]

Read carefully: Justice. Busy P. Sebastian. So Me.
Damn.

Two things I don't understand are 1) How did I not know about this until now 2) How the hell are tickets still available?

Either way . . .you can get yours here. Be sure to wear your best colorful t-shit and tightest black leather jacket. I could be wrong, but I think they might be required (sarcasm).

Electro Remixification

Cut Copy and MGMT are two of those bands that I can't decide if I like. Either way, they have GREAT taste in people to take care of their remix action. Allow me to offer proof:

Cut Copy - "Lights and Music" (Boys Noize! Rmx)

MGMT - "Electric Feel" (Justice Rmx)

This is the kinda jam I like on mornings after I get "triumphantly" drunk. The kind of drunk where you don't get home until sunrise, but you don't remember anything after about 3AM. You somehow manage to avoid a hangover and your friends call you that afternoon to tell you hilarious stories about yourself.

Sound familiar to anyone??
