Little Brother - Curtain Call
Today (somewhat) marks the end of an all-too-brief era: The end of Little Brother. The duo of Phonte and Rapper Big Pooh have released Left Back, their final album together. True Hip-Hop groups are a rare thing these days, and LB's body of work is more than enough to cement their place at the top of the post-Tribe greats. It's a shame to see them move on...but there will still be tons of solo music from each emcee, so it's not a complete loss.
"Curtain Call" (Khrysis on them beats) is the first single.

Little Brother - Star
Seems like some unfortunate controversy has kicked up because of this song. It was recorded in '05-'06, meaning it's a 9th Wonder beat. LB was gonna throw it up as an iTunes bonus track for the upcoming Leftback, but 9th put a stop to it. Yikes.

Little Brother - Curtain Call
"Khrysis on the boards with the heat".
Very bitter-sweet.
This is the first single from the last album from one of the best groups in Hip-Hop since Tribe.

GIANT Weekend Recap Post (pt. 1)
OK...let's get back to business.
Like I mentioned earlier, I haven't really been anywhere near the internet in about 4 days, I was all up in the Catskills, so let's do a quick lap and see what's worth talking about from the past weekend...

Oddisee 101 &102
I want to make sure that you pay attention when you read this post, so I'm going to make a bold claim:
Washington DC emcee/producer, Oddisee, is the most valuable figure in the traditional hip-hop scene since J-Dilla. Let that marinate for a minute.
Doubt my claim? I invite you to check out the 2-disc set he dropped a few weeks back, 101 & 102. I don't exaggerate in the slightest when I say that Oddisee is the only person out today that that has a legitimate place in both the Top 5 Emcees or Top 5 Producers conversation.
If that wasn't enough argument for you to buy this double album, let me run through (some of) the guest appearance list: Little Brother, Flying Lotus, M.E.D., Jean Grae, Kenn Starr and Don Will of Tonya Morgan . . .damn.

Gordon Gartrell Radio
If you're like me, they you have absolutely no respect for your method of employment and you do whatever you can to kill 8hrs each day. Like creating a blog for example.Well let me help you out. Phonte of Little Brother has done what he should have done a long time ago...he's created one of those fancy radio shows for the interweb tubes, and it's fantastic. It's a combo or him rambling on about any and everything and "spinning" jams that you'll rush to download right away.
Added Bonus: He named the show Gordon Gartrell Radio.
Wait . . .you don't get the reference?? Remember this episode of The Cosby Show? "It's tucked into my socks!!"
