M.I.A.: ViCKi LEEKX

This should either be dope or a disaster.
New mixtape with some unreleased stuff and a some leftovers from the album whose title I refuse to try and type.  Get you some.

Blaqstarr ft. M.I.A. - Lemme Hump You

NSFW?
This might be my new favorite thing ever.  The song is covered in whatever sauce, but the video is fantastic.

You may not recognize the name Blaqqstarr, but if you hang around jerks like me (or are one), you've definitely got summa his beats in your collection.  He rolls with Diplo an'nem.

M.I.A. - XXXO

No lie, I haven't even bothered to listen to this album yet.
Sounds crazy coming from me, but . . .did you hear that?!  Yuck.

M.I.A. - Steppin' Up

Yeesh.  This is just a mess.
I get the feeling that indie scene backlash pendulum will be swung pretty aggressively on this album.

M.I.A. ft. Jay-Z - XXXO (Remix)

I still don't like this song too much.
And MIA is really doing herself no favers on the prono run fro this album.
Sheesh.

Jay's verse is...ehh.

M.I.A. - XXXO

Vacation Late Pass Alert

Hmmm...
This is dangerously close to being the same annoying, pseudo-electro, Gaga-esque crap that I try so hard to avoid on pop radio.  C'mon, Maya.  You're better than this.  Especially following up "Born Free".  Oh well.  I assume this is the radio-friendly single for the folks that only know "Paper Planes"*

* I promise, that was only meant to sound half as snobbish as it sounds.

M.I.A. - Born Free (NSFW, unless you're like me and just don't give a shit)

M.I.A, Born Free from ROMAIN-GAVRAS on Vimeo.

Wow.
Everyone else is labeling this as NSFW, and its even been taken off of The You Tubes in the US, so I guess I'll provide the same warning.  It's got its gross bits.

Anyway . . .this has been my jamalam for a whopping 2.5 days now (long time for me).  Here's a new link so you can get a better feel for the actual song.  This video just pushes it to an even higher level.  Actually, it reminds me alot of the stuff Lupe is/was doing with Japanese Cartoon.

Dying to see where the hell this album is going.

M.I.A. - Born Free

"Paper Planes", this is not!
Holy hell, I didn't see that coming.

Trying to predict anything from M.I.A. is a fool's game, but I'm willing to guess no one was expecting a "punk rock" jam like this.  I dig it.  Alot.  There's no way her whole album is gonna sound anything similar to this...but for a one-off...hell yes.

Rye Rye ft. M.I.A. - Bang

I friggin' love Baltimore.
Your accents are ridiculous, and you're violent as shit...but damn, y'all can jam.

The Anakin to M.I.A.'s Obi Wan has finally released a video.

Rye Rye - Bang

This has Hugs in BK written all over it.
M.I.A.'s young B-more sidekick just might have somethin' here.
I need to hear this much louder...but I think I efphs with it.

The beat sounds like something Eric B would have made if he was trying to increase Rakim's cardio workout regimen . . .or something.

Hmmm...just for shits and giggles, can we start a "beef" between Rye Rye and Uffie.
Who wouldn't enjoy that?

"Paper Planes" F.Y.I.

I feel obligated to tell you all that the so-called "Slumdog Millionaire Remix" of M.I.A.'s "Paper Planes" that's being thrown about this week is nothing new. It's the super dope DFA (home to LCD Soundsystem, Holy Ghost!, Hercules & Love Affair and Hot Chip) remix . . .and it's been around for about 10 months now. I'm surprised so may sites are dropping the ball on that one.

M.I.A. & AR Rahman - O Saya

Vid does all the detail tellin' for me.

Once again, my laptop (free shiiiit from work, whuddup?) has decided that it hates any and all forms of media, so I haven't heard this song yet. But what I do know is that I must begin a quest to find a woman OK with the notion of wearing aqua green lipstick. Immediately.

"New" M.I.A.

You might not have had these jams yet, so this could be worth your while.
M.I.A. has released an EP today, with the "Boyz" remix featuring Jay-Z, and two "new" songs, "Shells" (snippet) and "Far Far".

I'm down with both of these, but I'm still waiting for the release of "What I Got" and "Big Branch" . . .in this country anyway.

M.I.A. ft. Wale - Boyz (RMX)

Well then . . .looks like there's another remix of "Boyz" knockin' around this week. Interestingly enough, it has a direct conection to the Jay-Z version I told you about yesterday.

The difference is, this one with Wale will be the official remix of the song. M.I.A. has finally gotten mainstream attention thanks to "Paper Planes" (you have no idea how 'indie snob" I got once I started hearing it on the radio). Kind of ironic now, considering that she might not be releasing another album. So, with her new-found pop appeal, the label had decided to re-release "Boyz" as a single (it was actually the first single from Kala), and include this remix.

This is the 2nd time that Wale has thrown verses on this track. Elitaste has the full back story on this, the connection to Jay-Z and all the download links.

M.I.A. ft. Jay-Z - Boyz (RMX)

I'm in full support of anything that gives me a reasonable excuse to do a Google image search for M.I.A. (currently holding spots 1-5 on my All-Time Women list). I didn't know this remix was coming, I'm not sure if this is something Jay went and did on his own . . .whatevs.

It's not earth-shattering, but its just kinda cool that it even exists.

Kardinall Offishall Does His Paper Planes RMX

This track is seeing about as many versions as "A Milli" these day, but whatevs. Here's another, this time from Kardi.

[Angry Author Rant: Wait! That reminds me . . .how friggin' HORRIBLE is that joint, "Swaggar Like Us"?? Were they kidding?! Is this song a joke, or a spoof, and I'm just not in on it? You're telling me that Jay-Z, T.I., Lil' Wayne and Kanye got together to record a jam (with an M.I.A. sample, no less) and THAT is what they came up with?! The four or them actually left their respective studios and said to themselves, "This is fire". For real? Word?! And while we're at it . . .Hip-hop, do me a big favor. Let's all get together, have a meeting, and as one, decide that there are to be no more songs that involve the concept of "swaggar" or "hating" for at least 5 years. Thank you.]

Santogold & Diplo - Top Ranking

More free mixtape goodness for the people of planet Erf.
Today, it's a collab between Santogold and (producer/DJ) Diplo - the man who A) helps keep M.I.A. so ridiculously dope . . .musically . . .ahem . . .I meant musically and B) I will forever be jealous of for this video before "Paper Planes" was recorded.
But I digress . . .I guess Santi just doesn't give a shit about the obvious comparisons between her and Mya. Whatever . . .as long as the jams jam, I don't care who sounds like who.

Rock this shit for free: BLAMMO!!
