Lupe Fiasco - Words I Never Said
Won't lie, after being one of his biggest fans*, I've lost alot of respect for Lupe Fiasco in the last year and change. Not because of the music, but because he's become a bit of a princess lately. The way he treats his own fanbase is trash, his dealings with the media are laughable, and his reaction to free and positive promotion from the internet is ridiculous. He's gotten a bit Cudi-esque, and it makes no sense because Hip-Hop has infinitely more love for Lupe than they do Mr. Mescudi.
As always, a great album can heal all wounds, so here's hoping for the best.

Monday Morning Kanye
Good morning, peoples.
Taking a quick look around, I get the feeling that I'm gonna have a ton of posts today, so lets get rolling...
This week's GOOD Friday jam is "Don't Look Down" (The Phoenix Story). It might sound odd on it's own, but it makes alot more sense when you consider the tie-in to the Runaway film. Lupe was a perfect choice for this song, too. No one can personify a semi-abstract concept in a song better than he does.
Kanye West - Don't Look Down (ft. Mos Def, Lupe Fiasco & Big Sean) [G.O.O.D Friday] by We Are S.M.E
Speaking of which,
Do yourself a favor, set aside some time, and watch this in full (34min):
I don't want to get into a predictable Kanye praise rant . . .but this is EXACTLY why Hip-Hop needs him. I've deliberately avoided reading reactions to this. Fans seem to be alergic to anything that isn't meant to be taken literally, so I imagine a short film full of symbolic imagery where a rapper falls in love with a flaming bird from another world might be hard for alot to digest. Ironic considering how much of the imagery in commercial rap is completely fabricated. To be honest it's embarrassing. Then again, Kanye is the living symbol of the new divide in Hip-Hop and Black pop culture as a whole*.
::stopping before I get into rock-snob territory::
I will say that Runaway made me appreciate some songs more than I did before, especially "Lost in the World". If Kanye's goal was to tell a good auto-biographical story and build anticipation for the album, then he's got a huge victory here.
* If we ever meet in person, give me a drink or 3, and start up a comvo about the whole Kanye v. 50 thing, and listen to me ramble for an hour about how that was the single biggest moment in Black pop culture (that didn't involve Obama) of the last 20yrs.

Japanese Cartoon - Heirplanes
"Heirplanes" by Japanese Cartoon from 13thWitness™ on Vimeo.
It was more fun when Lupe was pretending that it wasn't him singing.
Now the accent just feels awkward. As if he wants to be a "punk" singer...but part of him is too afraid to really go for it. Ah well.

All City Chess Club - We Beamin' (I'm Beamin Remix)
All City Chess Club - We Beamin' (Remix) by Detailsofmylife
I forgot all about the whole ACCC thing.
In this instance, the Club consists of Lupe, Asher Roth, Charles Hamilton (ugh), the Cool Kids, Blu, Diggy, B.o.B, and someone named Dosage (?)
There really aren't enough posse cuts these days.

Child Rebel Soldier - Don't Stop
OK...let's kick the week off, shall we.
Child Rebel Soldier - Don't Stop! by ErkaOfficial
GOOD Friday jam of the week comes from the alternative rap nerd super-group, CRS. We've been waiting forever from something out of this crew, but....ehhhhhh...not feeling this. But if you are, download it here and get a cleaner mix of the one that dropped Friday.
Man...first a Daft Punk x N.E.R.D. jam is whack as all whackness...now this. Bad week for my favorite artists.

Lupe Fiasco - Go To Sleep
A snippet of this has been around for a while...but I hate those things. Full jam time.
I would like to talk to someone who takes Lupe songs like this one at face value and ask them what they think of him and what he's talking about.
Diggy Simmons ft. Lupe Fiasco & Pharrell - Oh Yeah!
Diggy – Oh Yeah! (Feat. Pharrell & Lupe Fiasco) by justvibe
Wait . . .what?!
See what happens when you don't do this on weekends?
You end up 2-3 days late on magic like this. Have some.
How can anyone not like this kid?! The hipster-haters and "he only got on because of Run" possee is going to come at Diggy full force, but damn, folks, aren't we obligated to applaud a young kid coming out with shit above any beyond the Mother Goose bullshit from the rest of his generation? Of course we are. AirBorne (should have been Heir Born) mixtape coming soon.
I do sincerely hope that he's writing his own shit, though.

Janelle Monae ft. B.o.B. & Lupe Fiasco - Tightrope (Wondamix)
I think the world needs Janelle and 3000 to do an album together. Or have a baby or something. Unless they really are the same person, from parallel dimensions and the universe would implode into a black hole if they were ever in contact with each other. Then maybe not.

Lupe Fiasco - I'm Beamin'
I'm sure you've gathered as much by this point...but I'm a bit of a closeted megalomaniac.
But its a very harmless, never succeeding, Pinky & The Brian sort of megalomania.
Regardless...in my devine Fauxtopia, I can see this jam serving a grand purpose.
Once I perfect my plans for the educational system, I think this song will be sung at the start and end of every school day by all children from kindergarten through high school. Good stuff.
Yes. That sounds about right.

Lupe Fiasco x Alicia Keys - Love Letter to the Beat
Chad Hugo on them beats!
Apparently, this was a song Chad did with Ms. Keys back in '07 that never made an album. Lupe has it now, and it will supposedly appear on Lazers. Any trace of this bad boy will vanish from the internet with the quickness (Lupe don't play with leaks), so I suggest you hurry up and listen.
Side note: There's a ton of worthwhile new shit from today and over the weekend, but I'm busy. Tonight or tomorrow is gonna be jam-packed.

Lupe Fiasco - What U Want
I'm not sure about this one.
It feels unfinished...or undercooked.
BUT, that's the whole problem with leaked song.
No context.
Ahh well.

GIANT Weekend Recap Post (pt. 1)
OK...let's get back to business.
Like I mentioned earlier, I haven't really been anywhere near the internet in about 4 days, I was all up in the Catskills, so let's do a quick lap and see what's worth talking about from the past weekend...

Lupe Fiasco: Enemy of the State (A Love Story)
As promised, Lupe delivered his new mixtape this morning.
Have some...and I'll see you mofos tomorrow.
...unless I'm so bored and generally sick of my own family that I turn to the internet for entertainment, which is a distict possibility. Sooooo, I'll probably be right back here in a few hours.

Dirty Money ft. Lupe Fiasco - Angels (Remix)
"Knew she was New Jersey, but said that she was Anaheim"
I don't have much use for the Auto-Diddy vocals, but (of course) Lupe's verses are on point.
Have some.

Lupe Fiasco Mixtape Coming on Thursday!!
REJOICE, good people of Hip-Hop!
I/we could really use a new batch of Lupe to close out the year.
Rest assured, I'll share the download link as soon as he lets it go.
